Get over it! 13-Mar-2012 12:37 PM5 out of 5 stars
I love this sale! As a new mommy who chooses to stay at home with my child rather than working, getting a good deal on clothing and toys is essential to our family budget. This sale helps our family buy lots of great things at affordable prices. I am also
looking forward to consigning this year. I am perfectly ok with children being told not to play with the toys! This sale is not meant to be a daycare and I don't want my items broken or have pieces come up missing because someone else is not being a responsible
parent. Nor do I want to buy something and find out later that someone else's kid wrecked it for my child. Your kids don't need to play with something to "test" it out to see if they like it. Be an adult and use your best judgement. If you can't pick out a
toy for your own child then you might want to spend a little more time with them. Do you open the boxes of toys at Target and let your kids play with them before buying? Push some buttons and make sure the toy works and then buy it or don't. It's pretty simple.
I also feel there is great variety at this sale. At least the whole building is not filled with the owners over-priced items like a certain sale that just took place in Mooresville. Barrie is a straight forward, up front owner and operator who actually cares
about her consignors instead of just seeing them as a paycheck or using them as an opportunity to get some free labor. If you want someone to hold your hand, coddle you, and sugar coat everything then go somewhere else and take the risk of someone just BSing
you and taking advantage of you. Don't forget that Barrie doesn't make the prices. Yes, some of them are always going to be ridiculous but you will find that anywhere. If you try shopping with more of an open mind then you might actually enjoy the experience.

The picture posted on the web site of the clothing with the clip. It belongs to another sale, not huge ks.v Use your own pictures, not the ones that are from a sale that is not yours.

Not organized, clothing was all over the place. This last sale was awful! Prices were to high also. Used stuff should be cheap. Not the same a stores.

As a past consigner . I will never go back. Why? Barrie put my crib outside everyday for it to be amaged or taken. She still does it with toys. No way Will I go back

Not a good place. I paywxy68rked my car and was told to move because people could not see this place from the road. Nasty sales people and the prices were nuts. We left and went to a different place.

Huge Kids Sale is a great sale. I have read the comments above and as a consigner I appreciate Barrie asking children not to play with the toys. I have not sold items before or received them back in not the same condition due to the children playing with
them, so thank you Barrie for protecting your consigners. As far as prices, that is up to the consigner and to be honest these are the same prices I have seen in other sales! yes the buildings are not always spacey enough for all the product, but hey business's
grow and renting space isn't cheap at least you are putting on a sale and many are coming. Keep it up Barrie, you do it for us parents who want to save buying clothes for our growing child vs spending tons of money when they grow out of it quickly and keep
it up for the animals you are helping during this process! - PS the Huge Kids Sale going on in mooresville this week - LOVE The location and spacey enough for the product! Great job!

I can buy the same items at the mall for the same prices.and new. Some of the clothing prices were ok but most are just to high for a second hand sale. The mall is to good to pass up with 70% off sales. $3.00 for new items is where this shopper is going.

The 1st time I went (last yr was a disaster but I thought i would give it another try. Big mistake.stuff was all over the floor and dirty. Won't go back and the women who runs this was a birch to everyone around her.

Interesting to read the latest comments. I have personally seen the owner (Barrie) be completely rude and unreasonable with customers. To the point that I was embarrassed for the customer. And as far as playing with the toys, it's not the fact that she
doesn't allow kids to play with the toys that people dislike, it's the way she reprimands adults and their kids. There is a nice and professional way to approach the situation when a child is playing in the toys. However the children are scolded harshly by
Barrie and the parents are humiliated by her comments and reprimands. I used to be a frequent customer of her sales but I can't bring myself to support her business any longer. The comments are not dated, there are several from the past 60 days, during the
most recent fall 2011 sale. And if Barrie is entitled to her very vocal opinions, then so is every person who leaves a review here.

Randi 29-Sep-2011 10:14 AM4 out of 5 stars
Okay, all you people complaining about the "no play" toy rule...get over it! You must be the people who allow your children to ride bikes around walmart and drag toys off the shelves. How would you lke it if you had toys in this sale and another child
played with it, broke it, and then it didn't sell? If you are just going to let your kids play with the toys while you shop then don't bring them! As far as the building and air, it keeps costs down not to run air and such, if not consignors would be charged
a huge fee. Its a consignment sale, not a luxury mall department store. I have gotten some good deals from the Huge Kids Sale and the store. I only wish I lived closer so I could go more often.

masdonis 26-Sep-2011 09:19 PM3 out of 5 stars
I caution when you read all the comments that they are dated. I am an employee of Kids Emporium and am able to see Barrie several days a week. I have NEVER seen her be unfair or unreasonable with customers. This has become a huge business which benefits
the customers as well as Barrie. She always excepts everyone's drop offs no matter how crowded or busy we are and is 99% pleasant. Every business has it's stressful moments and I have NEVER seen her blow up at a customer. Barrie is opinionated so I suggest
you take her or leave her. And as for Sugar, she is the nicest most calm dog I have ever been around. Again, if you cannot take a dog, then don't go to the sale or shop at the store. We live in America, there are many choices. Please don't complain here and
potentially hurt one of our country's very few small business owners. This is how our country should work. You have a choice, please exercise it and don't complain.
disappointedagain 14-Sep-2011 12:36 AM1 out of 5 stars
Went to the sale yesterday evening and was again disappointed. Very crowded isles that you can barely fit in to look at things. I don't think there's any air either - lots of folks were complaining about it being hot and stuffy in there. To top it off,
they advertise accepting debit cards now but when you ask, they tell you there's a 2% charge. I figure it's convenient so I was gonna use it anyway until the lady said she had to write all my information down on an index card and then run it the next day.
I'm not handing out my account info like that - especially when anyone could get hold of those cards! Is that even legal? Needless to say, I did not give her my info or card. I think I'm done with this sale. I too have heard the owner's talk and seen her attitude
and I'm no fan of the dog either.
markk 13-Sep-2011 11:21 PM1 out of 5 stars
I had no intention of leaving any feedback when I came to this site, but after reading several negative posts I feel compelled to tell my story. I stopped at this sale with my wife this evening to purchase a few things for our new baby and some puzzles
for my three year old. We found what we were looking for and while we were waiting in line, Barrie proceeded to tell the patron in front of us about a funny political bumper sticker she had purchased. The bumper sticker was an anti tea party sticker equating
the movement to homophobes and racists. While I am not an official member of the tea party I do share many of their core beliefs. I found this to be offensive not because someone disagrees with me politically but because calling someone a racist is a serious
accusation. This offense was than aggravated by Barrie proceeding to take several minutes to find the web site she purchased the sticker from in order to show the patron in front of me. While I waited for her to find the web site the line behind us grew by
several people. When we stepped to the register she proceeded to tell us about a Rick Perry bumper sticker that involved some profanity. I told her that I did not think it was funny and she told me that we all need a sense of humor when it comes to these things.
I was appalled that she felt it was appropriate to swear in front of my three year old and also insult my wife and me by calling us racists. I find it interesting that another review proclaims to have heard this same individual make derogatory statement about
Mexicans. The hypocrisy of this woman is laughable until you consider that her arrogance blinds her of her ignorance.

I keep seeking out this sale simply because the folks in the area have some nice clothes and I can get them at a decent price. For the deals I've gotten, I'd give this a 4. The attitude of the owner, I'd give a one. I've been in her store and I've been
to several of her sales in different cities and every time I have encountered her, she's been rude. In fact, I was in her store just the other day and overheard her talking very ugly about some folks. On top of that, she brings her HUGE (maybe that's how the
sale got its name) dog to all the sales. Not everyone likes dogs and not only does she have it there, but the thing comes up to you and licks you. One year, my daughter was small in a stroller and the dang dog came right up to her and licked her face before
I could even react. The owner stood there, laughing about it. I was shocked. Honestly, I should have just walked out but I was in line with my *deals*. Leave the dog at home!! The isles are always crowded so if you plan on bringing your kids, plan for frustration.
They can't play w/ toys and there's no room to move even if you don't have a stroller. There are other sales that more than adequately allow for strollers and comfortable shopping. Sure, you can find some great deals if you can make it through the tight areas,
overlook the owner and her dog! So I give it a 5 for the goods - there's a lot to choose from and I always find good deals but a 1 for the owner, the space and the dog!

I also have a problem with the comments. Free speech is used everyday of the sale. As a saler and volunteer it's embarrassing. The reason for returning though is volunteers are compensated with HKS Bucks and with the ecomony this helps.

To the comment below....NO, the money wasn't kept by Barri. Did you ask her about your missing item? There is a list of mis-keyed items that can be scanned. Shame on you for posting without trying to resolve. I say this because she ALWAYS resolves inventory
issues on large items. If you lost a bag of socks I'd say you're out of luck.
sorry sale 30-Jul-2011 07:26 PM1 out of 5 stars
a sorry sale. I consigned last year and when I went to pick up my items many were missing. Was the money kept by Barrie? All i know is that I did not get it for my changing table. I hope this does not happen to you but it did to me. I won't be back.

GREAT SALE! I've been consigning for 8 years. The manager/owner is very fair to the consigners. She looks out for us and our items. Can't play with the toys... PLEASE! Shoppers, don't play with the toys I am trying to sell. Don't use the toy room as a
babysitting area. The volunteers, again VOLUNTEERS know who is "TRYING" a toy and who is using the toy room as a babysitting room. The staff, volunteers and consigners are the BEST! I will continue to consign and shop.

I LOVE this sale! As a buyer and/or a consignor, this is the best sale! I've made good money selling with Barrie and I've found so many great deals at her sales. I'm always amazed at the huge selection, great quality and very reasonable prices. The sale
is organized and easy to shop. I wouldn't miss it!

I dress my child pretty much exclusively from this sale. I always go on the 50% off day and buy sevearl dozen outfits for less than $80 every time. I always find like new items, no stains and never pay more than $3 for anything. This past sale I bought
14 shirts, 12 dresses, 5 shorts, 4 skirts, a swimsuit coverup, swaddle blanket, and a pair of shoes, and 2 toys for $68 and change. Although (as stated above) there were some ridiculous prices ... but that's each consigners choice, and consiquently, they never
get purchased. The quality for the price is definitely the most worth while sale I have ever attended!

Huge Kids Sale ROCKS. Barrie has got her stuff together. I have been consigning with her for several years now. SHE IS THE BEST in the Consignment business. I know that other Consignment business's try to compete, but their is NO competing against the
Huge Kids Sale!

Huge Kids Sale is the only sale I consign and shop at each season. I love the easy tagging system and LOVE the fact that I can check how much I've sold every night. As a shopper I always find everything I need for my girls for the upcoming season and only
buy a few items from other stores for the season. The sale is super organized and I love it. I'm a "Lifer" for sure.
LauraV 18-Mar-2011 08:38 PM3 out of 5 stars
I'd always been able to overlook the owner's general attitude that I'd always heard had been offensive and rude (because I've gotten such good deals), but this season, I did hear her talking about "Mexicans" which came across in a very judgemental and
derogatory way. I'm boycotting future sales - no reason to continue going as the area has gotten some really good ones since Barrie's self-proclaimed "original" was founded.

LOVE Huge Kids Sale! I have been both a consignor and a buyer of the sale for 6 years. As a consignor, I think the process is easy and organized. She was the first in the area to offer online submission. As a Mom who loves to shop for boutique quality clothes, I always find tons to choose from. Barrie provides a shop and return option for those not interested in standing in line, and always accepts numerous forms of payment. I look forward to Barrie and her Huge Kids Sale each season!

This is the most wonderful sale. Every year the girls and I get to shop for their seasonal wardrobe. We find so many cute items for them. You know with the economy the way it is today, one thing I don't have to worry about is how to be able to buy clothing for my girls and make them happy. I sale with Hugekidsale every season and I buy with them also. It's a win win situation and everyone goes home happy. Hugekidsale also has the most professional staff as wells as friendliest staff I have encountered in the consignment industry. I give them a thumbs up and rate them 5 stars for a job well done. Your the greatest

I LOVE consigning and shopping this sale! I also enjoy working it! I find such a wide selection and love that there is a "No play" policy on the toys. I definitely check the batteries myself but have confidence that it hasn't been going around the building by a thousand other children!! Can't wait for the fall sale!
Rachel Healy 13-Mar-2011 02:07 PM5 out of 5 stars
I loved shopping at this sale! I haven't had a better shopping experience here than any other "sales". As the mother of 4 kids, it's a great place to shop for greatly priced second-hand toys, clothes and equipment for my kids! You don't have to like the lady that owns it, but I thought she was very nice and helpful and she put on a great sale. Definitely the BEST one in the area for low prices, an excellent selection, and extremely organized. The location is very spacious, I had plenty of room to push my stroller around the entire building. Shopping with Huge Kids Sale was a pleasure and I can't wait for the upcoming sales, I highly suggest shopping here!!

I have been going to Barrie's for over 3 years now. I have saved thousands of dollars in very popular name brand clothes, toys, bedding, and anything I need for the kids. The prices are unbelievable and I also sell and volunteer which has become a great hobby for myself!
TPM 13-Mar-2011 11:20 AM5 out of 5 stars
Huge Kids Sale continues to be the best one around. As a grandmother, and a consignor, it is gratifying to work closely with such a fair person as Barrie. She will go overboard to work with you in all aspects of your shopping experience. I believe it is juvenile to rate an entire sale, with hundreds of consignors, and tens of thousands of items, because you don't like one comment made to you. And as a consignor, I HAVE had my toys torn up and parts lost, and I TOTALLY support Barrie's "no play" policy in the toy area. You would be surprised at how many folks think a toy area is a good substitute babysitter for their kids while they shop. So, keep up the GREAT work, Barrie and Huge Kids Sale, keep the consignors' merchandise safe for us, and keep bringing us the most fantastic deals around. Buying or selling (or BOTH), this is where you want to be!
Barrieisrude 09-Mar-2011 10:16 PM1 out of 5 stars
This sale is an absolute trainwreck!! The "owner" Barrie(Barry), whatever, is the rudest lady I have ever encountered. Not to mention, I heard her bragging about what a bitch she is and if people dont like her too bad. I would never give that woman a dime.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Huge Kids Sale! I stumbled upon it when my daughter was a newborn about a year and a half ago ... and I've been hooked ever since. I wish someone would of told me about this sale with my first child. I now buy all of my kids clothes there and get great deals - where else can you get Gymboree outfits for $5 and Lilly Pulitzer dress for $8 ! I love when people tell me how cute my kids are dressed ... so I can tell them to check out Huge Kids Sale! HKS you make my heart skip a beat - you are totally awesome!

I love this sale! Not only do I always make tons of money but I find so many really cute, brand name clothes for my little ones! I have been shopping and consigning every one of Barrie's sales since 2005. I don't even bother with any of the other sales now. The night before the sale, I can't even sleep because I'm so excited to shop and get great bargains! Thanks Barrie!

I'm glad the lady with the runny-nosed child didn't buy the wood kitchen & play food, because I did! And I got a great deal on it! Who cares if the building is shabby? It's a consignment sale, not a department store. And if I had my toys in a consignment sale, or store for that matter, I would appreciate the staff asking children not to play with the toys. What if my toy got broken, or pieces missing? I highly doubt the parent would step up and purchase the toy. It would be my loss due to the neglegence of the parent. Do you let your kids play with their Christmas presents before buying them to "make sure they'll like them"? Doubt it. Let's just call it like it is: lazy parenting, letting the child play with toys that don't belong to them. I thought this was a great sale and I am very pleased with the selection and quality. I will return in the fall.

Why I continue going back to this sale is simple. Despite the poor customer service, rude staff, messy cluttered aisles, long lines, and general frustration, it simply has good stuff.
Melissa Davis 08-Mar-2011 01:02 PM3 out of 5 stars
I was a little disappointed by this sale. The website photos were somewhat misleading. I did find some nice things. This wasn't near as a big of a sale as I had expected and I probably would not have driven almost an hour had I known. The building was pretty shabby and there needs to be more signs.
Paula Goodman 08-Mar-2011 12:31 PM5 out of 5 stars
Once again Barrie has the best kids sale in the area!! Not sure why others said the building was not big enough. It was certanily big enough for the shoppers to shop even with a stroller. I can also understand why Barrie would not want a runny nose child to play with the toys and I appreciate her looking after her consigners. I found some really nice things for my girls and would recommend her sale highly to anyone. I give Barrie and her consigners and volunteers A++++ and will absolutely shop there again.
mom2graycie 07-Mar-2011 09:49 PM1 out of 5 stars
This sale is way overrated and the website is very misleading. The sale I attended looked nothing like the pictures online. After an hour drive, my sister-in-law and I arrived at a small building packed to the max with consignment items. There was hardly no room to shop between the racks and what room was there was being taken up by people waiting in line to be checked out. The prices on the clothes, from stained to excellent condition, were ridiculous...$15 for a used dress?? The staff working the sale were not kid friendly nor parent friendly. If you are working at a CHILDREN'S consignment sale, you should be able to tolerate children. My daughter and niece were not able to play with the see if it worked and if they liked it. I am not paying for ANY toys that don't or used! This sale was recommended to me but I WILL NOT be recommending it to anyone else to waste their time on.

This sale continues to be the best sale around. It's organized well, has a great selection, and I really don't have to worry about quality because the ladies are super picky so I don't have to be. Love it! Love it! Love this sale and love consigning, buying, and working with Barrie!
joshraemom 07-Mar-2011 05:53 PM1 out of 5 stars
After seeing the pictures and description of this sale I thought it would be worth my hour drive to shop at it. I was very highly disappointed the building was very small and very crowded. The aisles was not big enough for strollers and really not big enough for 2 people to shop beside each other without getting into each others way. Also, the check out line is wrapped around the building so it was hard enough shopping in the small area but when you add that factor in it was misrable. Not to mention most of the clothes and toys was overpriced! Also, when I attened a sale I do let my child play with the toy while I stand over her and watch her, the reason I do this I see no need in buying it if she doesn't like the toy or if it doesn't work. Yes, I do this at ToysRus also! But at this sale you have a vol. worker standing in the middle of toys saying "no play, no play" with me and my sister in law standing there with our children that was NOT hurting the toys in NOPE we did NOT buy the kitchen set or the bag of play food. If all that was not bad enough while I was shopping with my 2 year old daughter a lady that was checking out people turned around and said " This child's nose needs wiped and then turns around and says I guess I will NOT be eating lunch today" as if she has NEVER seen a runny nose. To add to the embarrassment the lady continue to talk about it, I felt like crawling in the clothing racks and Never coming out. Imagen the shock when I found out the lady was the owner! She makes her money off of the needs of my child...I think she needs to learn some manners. She could have simply said " Excuse me I know you didn't notice but your child's nose needs wiped" and end the conversation! My sister in law and me had told all our friends that we was going down and they wanted us to be sure to tell them if it was worth the drive down over the weekend...our answer will be NO. Also we will never be attending another sale with the VW Bus in front of it!

I'm hooked! I find so many awesome things for my son, plus new unopened toys for gifts...I stock up for the season's bdays! This sale, I bought 6 pairs of like new/brand name shoes for around $20! I also shop in the teen section for myself (women's sizes in trendy styles). I always go back during the two weeks and find more great stuff I didn't see the 1st time! This sale is especially organized being in a large building. I enjoy the team work as a volunteer to help make it all successful from a shopper's point of view. The women are all cooperative & wonderful to be around, and the atmosphere is fun! I've made great friends & acquaintences. Barrie puts so much thought, fairness, time, organization & improvement into making it all work, which with a sale this large isn't easy to manage, but from her heart, wants everyone to be happy! Also, check out her new (additional) permanent consignment store, Kids Emporium, on Route 21 in Cornelius. More great selections!

Just when you think you have seen the best sale she's ever done, her following sale has even more stuff and an easier way to buy! I actually shop for Christmas, birthdays, and have items I bought last year that my boys won't use for another couple of years because the prices and the quality are too amazing to pass it up. This sale is something I look forward to every year for many reasons. I am able to sell the items I no longer need easily, I get paid immediately(and she even let's u use your earnings towards current purchases!!) and I get to volunteer (making even more $$ to buy new stuff) and hang out with other local moms. It has become my "me" time twice a year. Best of all, I do so well selling my stuff that I have been able to buy more every year and not spend a dime!! You can't go wrong at this sale. If you can't find it here-you really don't need it! :-) I have relocated to TN and I still drive back for the sale every season. It's really that great!

This is a great sale! Always high quality. The sale runs very smoothly and the selection is amazing! Definitely the best in the area! Don't let the others fool you. Just look for Barrie's VW Bus!

By far the best kids and teens sale EVER! HUGE selection, and everything is high quality - if it's stained, worn, or out of style or out of season it will not show up on the racks at this sale. Extremely organized clothes racks, plus a really nice selection of accessories, some new & some consignment. Barrie treats consignors really well, good and fast payout. Checkout lines used to be long (but quality and quantity was worth the wait) but no longer - Barrie has continually succeeded in making improvements so that the sale runs even smoother and better every year. Highly recommended for both buyers and consignors.

YEAH! It's sale time again! My teenagers are so excited. They look forward to the huge selection and fantastic prices. NO surprises when shopping because of the pre-sale quality control! It is so excitng that the teen stuff will be sold for the entire two weeks! Be prepared for parking issues; consider carpooling.

This is a A++ Sale, the only problem I had was getting everything to fit into my car! Everything is nice, clean and organized. You won't be disappointed! I found several things that I had been looking for. I was over the moon after the sale. Wish I still lived closer so that I could help out and get some great deals!

I LOVE this sale! I have traveled around to different sales, and this one by far is the best! I cannot wait til the spring sale, I shopped both sales last year. Barrie only takes the best quality, never anything less, I have found at other sales they take less than the best! I am so glad to have her sale around...... Dont forget to look for the VW bus!!!!!

Great sale. Tons of clothes girls 12-18 month so many I got tired of looking through them all. It was tight down the aisle, not good with a stroller. And it was extremely hot inside, all the toys were outside. Good pricing on the clothes.

Good sale! Lots to choose from. Good selecetion of quality clothes. My one complaint would be that the building is not big enough to hold everything and it tends to get a little crowded and difficult to shop the entire store.
