Consignment is a booming trend in the United States. In theory it is a win-win situation for everyone involved. Mothers get to sell their gently used children and maternity items while others are able to buy items at a fraction of retail price. Local communities also benefit by receiving some of the items that do not sell during the sale. But, WHAT IF we took this amazing concept of consignment and made a difference globally? In my pre-baby world, I was a dance teacher, graphic designer and lover of all things hot pink and sparkly.  So, when I got hit with the "Wow Chrissy, you are such a good boy mom" message one day, I was at a complete loss.  Was it the dirt under my nails from the worm digging?  The look of "gosh, I hope they don't use that as a sword and hit someone in the face?" 

Nope.... I've finally figured it out.  I think that crazy nutty lady was trying to compliment my laundry skills.  After all, a boy is NOISE WITH DIRT!  Ask any "boy mom" and they will tell you this is one of the necessary skills one must learn when trying to keep little dirt digging, worm finding, pocket stuffing little angels looking cute and put together.

It’s that time of year again…kids consignment sales are popping up all around my neck of the woods. I love these sales because it means that I can get clothes, books & toys for my daughter at a fraction of the retail prices in usually nearly new condition.  And it means my clients can clear out some of their unwanted items! From a Professional Organizer’s perspective, consigning can be a great way to declutter but only if you do it right and follow through.
