Green is the new black among savvy moms! Good for moms’ wallets and the environment, this trendy seasonal sale phenomenon has exploded across the nation and is making a huge impact on the environment along the way!
We recently polled My Consignment Manager, a consignment software provider; Rhea Lana’s Franchise Systems, Inc., a national children’s consignment sale franchisor; and independent children’s consignment sale owners to gather insight into more than 750 of these seasonal shopping events. Based on the resale patterns at these children’s consignment sales for spring and fall 2011, ConsignmentMommies.com can extrapolate that industry-wide:
- More than 8.2 million children’s clothing items were purchased;
- Kids’ shoes were a popular buy with more than 850,00 pairs sold;
- Nearly 81,000 outdoor plastic toys like Cozy Coupe cars and outdoor playhouses weighing as much as 100 pounds each found homes with new families;
- Consignors sold more than 72,000 Fisher Price Little People toys; and
- Baby gear is in demand with shoppers purchasing more than 43,000 gently-used strollers and high chairs.
